Winter Solstice Haiku

My first official 2011 winter solstice haiku came in one fell swoop of 17 syllables.  It was an ah-ha! creation birthed during a moment of introspection, (also known as spacing out).  Let the word nerd celebrations begin with this:

The tree’s bare branches

announce the winter solstice

in stark silhouette
